Beschreibung der Griffith University Die Griffith University Brisbane ist mit 33 000 Studenten eine der größten Universitäten des Bundesstaats Queensland. Sie hat 46 Fakultäten und Fachbereiche, die sich in zehn Studiengebiete aufteilen lassen: Arts, Business, Education, Engineering and IT, Health, Law and Criminology, Music, Natural and Built Environment, Science und Visual and Creative Arts. Außerdem gibt es noch einige unabhängige akademische Zentren, Colleges und Institute. Die Lehrenden haben sich zum Ziel gesetzt, die Qualität des Lernens und Lehrens immer weiter zu erhöhen, um die Lernerfahrungen und Ergebnisse der Studenten stetig zu verbessern. Aber auch für die Freizeit gibt es viele attraktive Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten wie beispielsweise Tanz, Yoga, Sportkurse und sogar Tagestrips und Exkursionen, unter anderem nach Moreton Island oder zu einem Surfwochenende.

Die Griffith University hat fünf Standorte entlang des Brisbane - Gold Coast Korridors. Der Gold Coast Campus ist der größte und liegt inmitten von ursprünglichem Buschland, ist aber dynamisch und modern und gleichzeitig der am schnellsten wachsende Campus Australiens. 25 Kilometer südlich von Brisbanes Zentrum, in Meadowbrook, liegt der 56 Hektar große Logan Campus. Weil er sich im Herzen der drittgrößten Stadt von Queensland befindet, sind es nur fünf Minuten bis zur nächsten großen Shoppingmeile. Vom Mount Gravatt Campus aus werden die Schulen in Queensland mit den meisten Lehrern versorgt. Nach einer Fahrt von nur zehn Kilometern ist man bereits im Zentrum Brisbanes. Neben diesem Campus liegt der 175 Hektar große Nathan Campus mitten im Buschland, aber ebenfalls nicht weit vom Großstadtzentrum entfernt. Der fünfte und letzte ist der South Bank Campus, der ursprünglich für die Weltausstellung Expo 1988 im kulturellen Herzen Brisbanes eingerichtet wurde. Unterrichtet wird im College of Art oder im Konservatorium. Man findet hier Cafés, Promenaden, Museen, eine Kunstgalerie und Vorführungen aller Art. Die Leute kommen hierher, um unterhalten zu werden oder sich einfach zu entspannen.
Brisbane ist die Hauptstadt von Queensland im Nordosten Australiens und mit etwa 1,7 Millionen Einwohnern die drittgrößte Stadt des Kontinents. Wegen des subtropischen Küstenklimas mit warmen, schwülen Sommern und milden, trockenen Wintern wird Queensland auch „sunny state“ genannt; von November bis April ist die Luftfeuchtigkeit extrem hoch. Vor allem die Umgebung Brisbanes ist einen Ausflug wert: Surfers Paradise, Fraser Island oder die saphirblaue Moreton Bay mit ihren weißen Stränden sind beliebte und wunderschöne Ausflugsziele. Auch die großzügigen Gärten der Mt Cootha Botanic Gardens sind sehenswert. In Sachen Kultur und Sport ist immer viel los und Live-Musik zieht bei einem Rundgang durch Szenecafés jeden in ihren Bann. Die Mischung aus Stadtleben und Natur macht Brisbane zu einem reizvollen Ziel für jeden Australienreisenden.

Mit einem Bachelorabschluss kann man weiter studieren und danach beispielsweise einen Masterstudiengang belegen.  Bachelorstudiengänge der Universität

Voraussetzungen:Wer an der Griffith University einen Bachelorabschluss machen möchte, braucht das Abitur oder Fachabitur.
Bewerber für das Bachelorstudium an der Griffith University müssen das Abitur oder Fachabitur besitzen und ausreichend gute Englischkenntnisse nachweisen, falls sie keine englischen Muttersprachler sind.

Unterkünfte der Griffith University Apartments auf dem Campus
Studenten können an sechs Standorten der Griffith University Colleges eine Unterkunft auf dem Campus bekommen. Fünf davon sind auf dem Nathan Campus und einer auf dem Mt Gravatt Campus gelegen. Am Standort Gold Coast gibt es zur Zeit keine Unterkünfte auf dem Campus.
Es gibt drei verschiedene Auswahlmöglichkeiten bei den Wohnmöglichkeiten auf dem Campus:
Bei den "Catered Single Rooms" bekommt man ein eigenes Zimmer, wobei die Bäder und Aufenthaltsräume gemeinschaftlich genutzt werden. Die Verpflegung ist bei dieser Unterkunftsart enthalten, so bekommt jeder Student drei Mahlzeiten pro Tag.
Bei den "Flat Style Self Catered Rooms" handelt sich um voll möblierte Unterkünfte in Apartments, in denen jeweils vier bis acht Studenten zusammenleben. Jeder bekommt hierbei sein eigenes Schlafzimmer; die Küche, das Bad und die Aufenthaltsräume werden von den Apartmentbewohnern gemeinsam genutzt. Für die Verpflegung sind die Studenten diesem Fall selbst zuständig.
Als Alternative für Postgraduate-Studenten bieten sich die "Postgraduate Flat Style Self Catered Rooms" an. Hierbei handelt es sich um voll möblierte Apartments für jeweils vier Studenten. Jedem steht ein eigenes Schlafzimmer zur Verfügung; Küche, Bad und Aufenthaltsraum werden gemeinschaftlich genutzt. Für die Verpflegung sind die Studenten bei dieser Unterkunftsart selbst zuständig.
Die Preise richten sich vor allem nach der Anzahl der Mitbewohner. Sie reichen von A$ 121 bis hin zu A$ 292 pro Woche und beinhalten die meisten Nebenkosten, interne Telefonate sowie die Benutzung von Waschmaschine und Trockner.
Informationen zu Apartments
Private Apartments / Hotels
Die Griffith University verfügt über keine eigenen Unterkünfte außerhalb des Campus, bietet jedoch über den "Off-Campus Accommodation Service" Unterstützung bei der Suche nach einer geeigneten Unterkunft an.
Natürlich kann es sein, dass diese Art der Unterbringung etwas teurer ist als zum Beispiel bei einer Gastfamilie. Auch sollte man sich über bestimmte versteckte Kosten wie Kautionen, zusätzliche Stromkosten oder ähnliches informieren und sich mit den Mietvereinbarungen gut vertraut machen. Ebenfalls bedacht werden sollte die eventuelle Notwendigkeit der Anschaffung von Möbeln und Haushaltsgegenständen.
Die Preise bei privat gemieteten Unterkünften variieren je nach Größe, Ausstattung und Lage.

Gastfamilien
Die Unterkunft in einer Gastfamilie ist ideal für diejenigen, die das Leben in einer australischen Familie hautnah erleben und konstant Englisch sprechen wollen. Die Gastfamilien sind in der Regel sehr interessiert daran, ihre Studenten so gut wie möglich zu unterstützen, und tun viel für deren Wohlbefinden. Der Gast wird im Grunde als Teil der Familie aufgenommen, hat sein eigenes möbliertes Zimmer und isst gemeinsam mit der Gastfamilie. Telefon- und Internetnutzung wird individuell besprochen, und man darf die Waschmaschine nutzen.
Die Unterkunft bei einer Gastfamilie wird seitens der Griffith University für einige Standorte angeboten. Je nach Bedarf kann man zwischen verschiedenen Mahlzeiten-Optionen wählen.
